The Ballad of Henry Cavill as Superman – Is He or is He Not?

In less than 24 hours we already have drama unfolding over the fate of Henry Cavill as Superman for Warner Bros. Pictures’ DCEU so as we reach the half way point, its time to backtrack a bit to see where we are now.

The story starts with The Hollywood Reporter ummm reporting from their sources that Cavill would be stepping down as the Man of Steel after talks break down regarding the actor’s appearances and cameos in other movies including next year’s Shazam and possibly Wonder Woman 1984.

There are various reasons rumored for the breakdown. One is scheduling challenges posed by Cavill being cast as Geralt of Rivia for Netflix’s The Witcher series. Others say its the salary that Cavill’s camp is asking for his cameo in Shazam. That parts still unclear.

Moments later we get a Tweet from Cavill’s agent that the actor hasnt dropped from the role.

News also surfaced that Warner Bros. was considering doing a Superman movie starring Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan. As well as news that the studio is pushing through with a Supergirl solo movie.

So at this point, its still a maybe he is maybe he’s not scenario. Even Cavill went on with the charades when he posted a cryptic video on social media.

After this, Warner Bros. Releases an official statement regarding the issue, which sounds vague to me.

At least there’s still hope that Cavill would be Superman. Its kinda hard not to see him as the big blue boy scout too he’s been though a lot of movies and he may not be perfect, you can see he’s improving with every new project.

I personally feel like he has still so much potential playing the iconic character.
