Free YouTube now also available to all Smart, Sun Postpaid customers

You can now enjoy watching more videos on the go as PLDT wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is now also giving all postpaid customers up to one hour of free access to YouTube – and soon to other video services – every day until July 15.

Under the special promo, you can instantly enjoy up to one hour of free YouTube streaming every day as long as you have an active Smart Postpaid plan. This includes the data-heavy Giga X Plans, which already come with 10GB data specifically for streaming sites like YouTube, iflix, Fox+, and iWant TV – all without need for registration or any purchase requirement.

Sun Postpaid customers can also enjoy the promo instantly, except for Sun Fixed Load Plans users, who simply have to register to select load buckets to enjoy the daily treat.

This follows Smart’s groundbreaking offer to all Smart, TNT, and Sun prepaid customers, who now also enjoy up to one hour of free access to YouTube every day for as long as they are registered to select promos including GigaSurf99, AllOutSurf99, GigaSurf 50, AllOutSurf 30, Panalo Data 30, Panalo Combo 30, Super Combo 20, and Big Time Data 70.

Now, all of Smart, TNT, and Sun customers can discover and stream more YouTube videos without worrying about load deductions or additional monthly charges.

Access the widest breadth of content at your fingertips

“YouTube is a powerful platform for learning and discovery, and we are glad to make it accessible to all our prepaid and postpaid customers, who can now enjoy an unmatched library of entertaining and informative content to pursue their passions and develop new skills and hobbies,” said Oscar A. Reyes, Jr., SVP of Consumer Business Market Development for PLDT and Smart.

“This strengthens our push to bring the widest breadth of content at the fingertips of our customers so they can experience a more meaningful and enhanced digital lifestyle,” he added.

You can stream one hour of YouTube for free in one sitting, or several sessions throughout the day. Use it to catch up with your favorite vloggers, learn new skills from how-to videos, or discover the latest trends anytime and anywhere – while stuck in traffic, on a quick break at school or work, or waiting in line at the grocery store.

Aside from YouTube, another video service is also set to be part of the offer. Access to Smart360 (http://360.smart.com.ph), a web portal where Smart, TNT and Sun subscribers can access various digital content like live TV, movies, series, music and games, will soon be free for a limited time. Other video content providers are also eligible to be included in the offer, subject to mutually agreed terms with Smart.

Experience the country’s fastest LTE network

Smart, TNT and Sun customers are now better able to enjoy video streaming services like YouTube as a result of the mobile carrier’s massive investments to expand its network coverage and capacity.

To provide customers with a better mobile internet and video streaming experience, Smart is accelerating the deployment of LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) and Carrier Aggregation (CA) technology, which are meant to deliver bigger bandwidth and much faster data speeds.

Smart has already rolled-out CA sites in cities across Metro Manila, as well as in major cities in other regions of the country, including Baguio, Calamba, Iloilo, Bacolod, Tagbilaran, Ormoc, Cagayan de Oro, Dipolog, Zamboanga, among others. Smart also expanded its coverage in major tourist spots like Baguio, Batanes, Sagada, and Sarangani.

In its latest analysis, UK-based mobile analytics company OpenSignal recently noted Smart’s “phenomenal growth in overall download speed,” owing to significant improvements in 4G and 3G download speeds, and improved accessibility among customers.

In its separate March 2018 report covering November 2017 to January 2018, OpenSignal also recognized Smart for having the country’s fastest LTE network, bestowing the company four major citations including best in 4G LTE download speed; best in overall download speed; best 4G latency performance; and best 3G latency performance.
