Batman # 43 Reconfirms Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are a couple

This week’s Batman confirms that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are a couple still in the DC Rebirth universe.

We finally wrap up the mini story of Poison Ivy taking over the world and its up to the new power couple of Batman and Catwoman to stop her control. Last issue we saw them take on Superman and the three Flashes but it ended badly for Bruce Wayne who got a massive head injury after pissing off Ivy who had control of Superman at the time.

When Bruce Wayne wakes up, he’s in a hospital with Harley Quinn taking care of him. In this issue, we continue that, with Selina Kyle visiting Poison Ivy…

… while Bruce is being attended by Quinn and being guarded by Superman, Supergirl and Kenan Kong aka New Superman.

Catwoman reveals that Poison Ivy is doing what she’s doing because she’s hurt and bothered by the fact that she killed five men during her and Riddler’s talk in the park before the events of War of Jokes and Riddles.

Back at the hospital, Batman starts his move to get Harley out of Ivy’s control. And to do that, he had to attack her vulnerabilities, mainly her feelings towards Harley Quinn.

With that shock, Catwoman kicks Poison Ivy and knocks her cold.

The husband and wife team then try their best to wake both Harley and Ivy up before things become worse.

With Harley free from Ivy’s control, the still-injured Batman flees from the hospital.

He also convinces Ivy to NOT attack the Batmobile because they’ll be dropping by.

When the two are reunited, they get their feelings sorted out.

And because this is Batman, we find out here in Batman # 43 that Ivy didn’t really kill those men. The Riddler was responsible for their deaths.

The issue ends with Batman telling Catwoman that Ivy’s going to be ok and that she’s being treated at Sanctuary.

I like this issue, its a nice way of reminding people that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy are indeed still a couple. She may have fooled around with Deadshot and went back to Joker’s arms during “Death of the Family” but when she’s free from all her baggage, Harley’d chose to be with Ivy.

The next issue though continues to countdown to the wedding of the year. Can’t wait to see Catwoman and Batman’s wedding dress inside the book. So far, we only have the covers of the two wearing their respective wedding attire.
