A Dark Knight Turns Face in DARK KNIGHTS RISING: THE WILD HUNT # 1

We got a cool moment this week in comics when a surprising member of Barbatos’ Dark Knights makes an unexpected face turn and helps the good guys in Dark Knights Rising: The Wild Hunt # 1!

So in this one-shot we take a look at what happened to Justice League members The Flash and Cyborg as well as Teen Titan Raven as they make their daring attempt to take down Barbatos and the evil Dark Knights on a multiversal level. Obviously at some point in the story, they finally meet with the Dark Knights riding their own ship powered by a baby universe. The Ultimate Thule (which was the main transport in Grant Morrison’s Multiversity) gets bombarded by unknown substance.

The trio take the fight smartly, picking their battles and making an opening for Barry Allen to get to the other ship. There he encounters the Ares/ Batman hybrid known as The Merciless.

Barry was counting on the arrival of Red Death to help his ally in defending the baby universe engine but since Barry was fast enough to free the baby universe, it was all too late for The Merciless and the Red Death. The explosion also set off a chain reaction for the evil Batman – Flash hybrid.

The explosion helped clear Bruce Wayne’s control of Red Death’s body leaving Barry Allen fully in control. This opens a chance for the good guys to win, case in point, the two speedsters teaming up to beat Merciless.

The Red Gold Death then prepares to sacrifice himself to buy Barry and his teammates the necessary time for the infant universe to expand and destroy the Dark Knights ship.

To bad for the newly reformed Batman/Flash hybrid, his betrayal was accounted for by the Batman who Laughs during the planning stages and he had a countermeasure in place.
