8 Year Old Marcus Rayden Cabais Named as First Cartoon Network Rockstar

It was a day of fun and entertainment at the Cartoon Network Rockstar Christmas event, where kids got the chance to show off their talents as well as celebrate the holidays with their favorite Cartoon Network characters. The event was held on Saturday, December 9, at Robinsons Magnolia in Quezon City.

Bringing together the most talented kids from all over the Philippines, the event was a culmination of a month’s search for the craziest and wildest talent. Marcus Rayden Cabais, 8 y.o., was ultimately named the first-ever Cartoon Network Rockstar and as a grand prize, he was awarded an all-expense paid trip for four to Cartoon Network Amazone waterpark in Thailand. He also secured a five-year talent management contract with Viva Artists Agency to jumpstart a career in the country’s entertainment industry.

But being a Rockstar isn’t easy – you have to look, sound and have the skill to be one. Aside from the Cartoon Network Rockstar talent search, the event also featured a number of different activities that allowed attendees to be their own star for the day (minus the entourage). Attendees were encouraged to try pumping it up in a dance or guitar battle. Those who wanted to practice their pipes before belting it out on stage could also practice at the karaoke station.

Stars also need to look the part, a backstage dressing room set up was present wherein kids were given a makeover ready for the red carpet. Balloon headdresses and instruments were also made available to complete the look.

Throughout the whole event, attendees were treated to performances by Cartoon Network mascots. They were joined by talented Filipinos such as celebrity mom Camille Prats with son Nathan, Xia Vigor better known from her viral impersonation performance of Taylor Swift, with special guest judges including Teacher Georcelle, founder of G-Force dance troupe and Sienna ‘Ate Sienna’ Olaso, a pillar to Batibot’s cast, now Cignal’s Vice President for Programming and Channel Management.

As it’s the season of giving, a very generous number of prizes were given away to not only the contestants, but to those who actively participated in the day’s activities. Winners were also able to take home exclusive Cartoon Network merchandise and a ton of toy showcases.

The Cartoon Network Rockstar Christmas event provided fans a chance to not only express their talents but also have fun with their friends and families. In partnership with Viva, it also served as a stepping stone to those aspiring for a career in show business.
