Ryan Reynolds to Voice Pikachu for Live-Action Detective Pikachu
Ryan Reynolds will be reportedly voicing A Pikachu for the live-action adaptation of the game Detective Pikachu.
The Hollywood Reporter…ummm… reports that the Deadpool star will be lending his voice to a Pikachu for the live action Detective Pikachu which was based off of a game which sold big in Japan this year.
Reynolds will reportedly not just voice Pikachu but will be doing motion capture to play the role. Other stars set to appear in this Pikachu movie are “The Get Down” and “Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom” star Justice Smith. Smith’s character is apparently a teen whose father was kidnapped and he ends up teaming with Detective Pikachu to solve the case. “The Big Lies” star Kathryn Newton will also play a sassy journalist who helps the duo in their case.
Detective Pikachu will be the first ever live-action Pokemon game based on the 2016 game of the same title. It’s going to be written by Guardians of the Galaxy’s Nicole Perlman and Gravity Falls’ Alex Hirsch. It’ll be directed by “Shark Tale” director Rob Letterman and will be distributed internationally by Universal Pictures.
