Oppo F5 Youth First Impressions

Hot from the Oppo concept store, I have my Oppo F5 Youth first impressions. This smartphone is a “spinoff” so to speak of the Oppo F5 smartphone that’s been released Q2- Q3 of 2017.

Here are some of the barebones things we need to know about the F5 Youth before we proceed with the actual Oppo F5 Youth First Impressions post.

  • 16 megapixel front camera
  • 13 megapixel rear camera
  • Gorilla Glass 5
  • 18:9 aspect ratio screen
  • 2160 x 1080 resolution

They weren’t kidding with the “youth” tag as this smartphone looks and feels like a younger sibling to the Oppo F5 with a few noticeable changes here and there. We say goodbye to the lining design from the F5 for the F5 Youth. We do say hello again to the polycarbonate back plate that Oppo’s been fond of using as of late.

Did you say “lining”?

To round up the aesthetics, expect a matte finish and narrow, “barely there” bezel design.

I’m impressed with how light Oppo phones are and our boy here, the Youth certainly continues that trend. I pocketed a unit and had a quick bite and I barely felt it there. Mas ramdam ko pa yung Oppo F3 Plus in my pocket.

Again, 13 megapixels for a rear camera IS the standard for smartphones for this year and maybe up to next year. Will probably do more with the full review when the guys from Oppo send me a review unit. You can grip the phone well and it’s dandy and the new design for the LED flash works well.

If you’re familiar with the previous iterations of Oppo’s F-series smartphones, the volume controls for the F5 youth’s located at the left hand side while the power button and the SIM card dock/ memory card dock can be accessed on the right hand side. The buttons feel great to touch and are neither too slim or too stubby. It’s just right.

The bottom part of the Oppo F5 Youth houses the audio jack and charger slot. No fingerprint sensor though which is OK considering the price range.

I like how the screen was made. The UX for the apps and icons look balanced enough. The new OS is definitely an improvement. Marketing-wise, they made a smart choice in using the rainbow theme to get out the colors for this smartphone.
