J.J. Abrams Returns for Star Wars IX
Big news today on all things Star Wars as Lucasfilm has found a new director for Star Wars IX and it’s good ol’ J.J. Abrams.
Reports are coming in that Abrams was directly picked after the studio fired Colin Trevorrow . And now they are back to J.J. Abrams who also helmed the first movie in the new trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Also onboard for the untitled Star Wars IX is Chris Terrio, who wrote the screenplay for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Yikes.
Quick disclaimer, I loved BvS and I will continue to say that it was a misunderstood passion project.
Anyway, back to the story at hand, which is J.J. Abrams coming back for Star Wars IX. The movie is expected to drop 2019 and will be the third movie that will chronicle the lives of Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron as well as Kylo Ren.
Star Wars: Episode IX or Star Wars IX will be produced by Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy together with Michelle Rejwan, J.J. Abrams and his outfit, Bad Robot.
When asked about getting back Abrams, Kennedy stated:
“With The Force Awakens, J.J. delivered everything we could have possibly hoped for, and I am so excited that he is coming back to close out this trilogy”
