Young Sheldon Cooper Cast for Big Bang Theory Prequel “Sheldon”

The Hollywood Reporter shares that CBS has officially cast newcomer Iain Armitage (“Big Little Liars”) to play the role of young Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory’s prequel series “Sheldon”.

While I no longer watch TBBT even in its current season, I still have a soft spot for the series which once upon a time glorified what it was like to be a geek and a nerd. Sadly, the current writing has changed and I’m left scratching my head and hoping they get back to what they were before.

In the meantime, the new series Sheldon sounds promising. Telling the story of a young Sheldon Cooper who has been a gifted child of science growing up with a very religious mother. Oh by the way, the mother for Sheldon the series is Scandal’s Zoe Perry.

Big Bang Theory’s creator Chuck Lorre will be writing the episodes and will be working with showrunnerSteve Molaro. TBBT’s co-creator Bill Prady will also be working with the show although its not clear if he’ll be executive producer or something else entirely.

And what about Jim Parsons’, the man-child version of Sheldon Cooper? According to THR, he’ll be joining the show as an executive producer.
