Nokia 3310

One of the biggest draws for the original Nokia 3310 was how sturdy it was. That and the AMAZING battery life it had. The same can be said for the new 3310. They even added in the analogue keys to really hammer the point that this was the upgraded version of our favorite mobile phone in the early 2000s. Fro chrissakes they even brought back the option to change the skins for the phone.

It’s More of a Feature Phone Rather than Smartphone

Checking the specs and features for the Nokia 3310, I noticed that it can’t really qualify as a smartphone. The phone has limited features when it comes to connectivity and comes off more of nostalgia thing rather than actual user-friendliness.

$52 Price Tag

That’s around Php2500 (or roughly that amount anyway). That’s… pretty cheap if you think about it. It’s on the same price range as the “budget” phones you can pick up from Cherry Mobile, Myphone and even SKK mobile.

Same Name Different Producers

So while the 3310 may be branded as a Nokia 3310, its no longer made by Nokia. Nokia died a natural death sometime ago. The production and distribution of the 3310 is done by Finnish company HMD Global who is made up mostly by former Nokia execs. So while they held the intellectual property for the product they still needed somebody to actually make these phones so they had to turn to Foxxconn for that. In short, it took two companies to bring make our retro dreams a reality.

Snake? Snake!!!!!!!

Individuals who were teenagers in the early 2000s definitely spent HOURS getting their high scores for Snake on the Nokia 3310 and with the revamped version, it looks like we’ll be doing the same thing again.
