SDCC 2016 – Kurt Russell is Star-Lord’s Dad aka EGO THE LIVING PLANET in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

More news from the Marvel side of things at SDCC 2016, we finally have an idea who Star-Lord aka Peter Quill’s father is!

First thing you need to know, Kurt Russell is playing Chris Pratt’s dad in the movie. And the former Snake Plissken won’t be playing the role of Jason of Spartax, the 616 aka comic book version of Daddy Quill.

They already dropped bombs and clues on the identity of Quill’s father as early as the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie saying that he was a being of pure light. I do not know about you but that ugly looking and very angry planet does not look like he’s made of light.

Anyway.

There’s no trailer up for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 online but the lucky dogs of Comic Con who were at Hall H managed to see the trailer. There’s also a description from Wired which we will be quoting.

Russell makes his grand entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe via a new (as-yet-unreleased) trailer for the film that played during the studio’s Hall H panel. Landing in a spaceship shaped like the Cloud Gate (aka “Bean”) in Chicago, Ego announces his presence by addressing Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) himself: “After all these years, I’ve found you. … I’m your dad, Peter.” Dun. Dun. DUN. This being a Guardians movie, however, the tone quickly shifts back to humor with Drax asking about Ego’s anatomy and how, exactly, he created baby Star-Lord. “Yes, Drax,” Ego says. “I got a penis.”

I like where this is going. But it would be really cool at some point they get to show Ego in his natural form, that big purple planetoid…

I saw an episode of Fantastic Four as a kid and this planet really creeped me out. I’ve grown but I’m still creeped out with this guy. Anyhoot, seeing the team go up against Ego could really work especially if they need to go ALL-OUT!

Let’s see where this goes. Hope they make GOTG 2 better than the first one (which could be hard to top IMHO).
