The third Star Trek film is here and its beautiful. I could paint a picture with that beauty, frame it and sell it on ebay. More than that it was, like its namesake, BEYOND expectation.

Yes, people may have shat on the trailer when it came out (I was floored to be honest) but like Ghostbusters, this film had so much fun factor in it that its hard not become enticed, enamored with it. I’ll tell you something its far from perfect but its got so many little nuances that when you gather everything, it starts to become something rather GREAT.

The movie’s packed with lots of tender humor like those moments between Spock and Bones or those internal dialogues that Kirk has. But what really convinced me to actually LIKE this movie is the humor. I wasn’t really expecting to have fun with the movie but I did.

The visuals once again gets upgraded to the next level for ‘Beyond’. I could have sworn that they really made sure that even the small details of the U.S.S. Enterprise or even the U.S.S. Franklin, which makes an appearance in this movie.

By jove that was a cool appearance to be honest.

We also have to applaud the film for being able to equally space the screen time between the cast throughout most of the movie, then finding a way to get them all back together before reaching the climax. Four subplots that work well and develops the characters definitely sounds great.

Sophia Boucella’s character here is also a treat. This time, we don’t go the sexy route (i.e. Alice Eve in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’) we go the smart and spunky female addition. Gotta hand it to the writing team of Star Trek Beyond for doing that big change and just giving us a strong female character, something the movie franchise sorely lacked.

The action scenes are big and grand and comes in short bursts which is keeps us at the edge of our seats. Wait till you see that final battle and how you can finally say that “the power of music saved the galaxy”. Nuff said.

I’m going to end this review at that; expect big moments, lots of action, lots of comedy and a magnificent movie experience with the crew of the Enterprise.

VERDICT: 10/10
